Bring some non-perishable food or household items for donation to the Circle of Concern.

We will order off the menu. We need to give the folks at the clubhouse an idea of how many of us will attend so please respond to Libby Yunger (girlpilot@sbcglobal.net) or Jean Murry (jeanemilym@att.net or 314-469-3541) before Friday, December 7. Yes, Jean now has e-mail – her kids gave her an e-notebook as an early Christmas present!

The Highlands is the new 9-hole golf course in Forest Park. To get to the Highlands Clubhouse, take your favorite route to I-64/US40. Exit at Hampton Ave and go north into Forest Park. Take the first right exit by the traffic circle (Wells Dr.) Stay on Wells Dr to the next traffic circle (near the Jewel Box). Take the first right off the traffic circle toward the Park Security station, the golf course will be on your left. This short road ends at Clayton Ave. Turn left on Clayton Ave keeping the golf course on your left. You will pass holes 1, 2, and 3 before getting to the road (on the left) to the Highlands Clubhouse. The people at the Highlands are very friendly – their phone number is 314-531-7773 if you need a little directional guidance. There have been many changes to the park roads in recent years, so if you haven’t been to Forest Park in awhile, getting around can be a little confusing but the signage tends to be good.

Chapter News:

We will be hosting the Fall North Central Section Meeting in St. Louis next September…actually I’m pushing for late September/early October since I’m not usually here in September. We will need a group of members to work on the planning so that we can get information out to the membership in the Spring. So far Jean Murry, Martha Norman, Vivian Waters and Libby Yunger have volunteered to help with the planning, and we welcome the help of any other members or non-members who would like to participate. I hope we can begin organizing who will do what at the Christmas/Holiday Party.

Carmelo Turdo has asked if the Ninety Nines would like to develop a program for Women in Aviation Week, March 4-10, 2013. I have offered to use some of the items from our Library exhibit for a new exhibit under the Amelia Earhart route map at the GSL Air & Space Museum. Carmelo also suggested that we prepare talks or another type of program. I’ll have need to get together with him to determine where this program would be given and to whom.

Our Chapter library exhibit was at the Maplewood Library in October/November and will be at the Richmond Hts. Library in December. We do not plan to continue with the library exhibit after December, except perhaps for Women in Aviation week next March. Libby Yunger spoke on A Century of Women in Aviation at the Maplewood Library in November. The talk was well-attended, thanks to Bob Kraemer who notified every aviation group in St. Louis. Ninety Nines News:

Nominations are now open for the Ninety Nines Award of Achievement for Contributions to the Ninety-Nines, for Contributions to Aviation, and for Humanitarian Efforts and for the Award of Merit for non-Ninety Nines and for the George Palmer Putnam Award for non-Ninety Nines. Any Ninety-Nines Chapter, Section or Trust can submit a nomination by January 15, 2013. Submit a one-page letter signed by two officers or trustees including the name, address, and telephone number of the nominee or next-of-kin, if the nominee is deceased. Up to three additional pages of substantiating material may be attached to the letter, which should be sent to International Headquarters in Oklahoma City to the attention of the Awards Committee.

For those of you on Facebook, Minnetta Gardinier sent the following message:

Please consider joining the “North Central Section 99s” Facebook group. It is a networking opportunity for us to spread the word about the 99s, to share our aviation stories and experiences, to advertise our 99s events across the Section, and to perhaps offer/share rides among our group.

Simply search for the site on Facebook – “North Central Section 99s” – and request to join the group. Members may post on the site, as well as upload pictures/videos, and add your Chapter events to the calendar section. Members may also suggest new members to be added, so feel free to do so. In addition to adding other 99s from your Chapters, you might consider adding somebody who might not yet have joined the 99s. It could be a great way to draw them into our organization.

For those, who might not yet have a Facebook account, you can do so easily with an email address. If you wish to keep your personal FB page private, you can do that by marking all the privacy settings to ONLY ME (private). For me, I’ve set my stuff to FRIENDS only, but explore the options, if you’re just getting set up. Finally, all NCS 99s news will continue to be published on the web site and in the Waypoint.
